Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), country's second largest car manufacturer in the country, today unveiled its higly anticipated compact sedan 'Xcent'. Design based on the Grand i10 platform, company's new sub-4 metre compact sedan will take on the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze.
The Grand i10 sedan, now the Xcent, is Hyundai's first foray into the hotly contested sub-4 meter sedan category. The Xcent will also offer same engine options, namely the 1.2 litre kappa 2 petrol mill and the 1.1 litre diesel motor. These engine will be mated to five-speed manual transmissions as standard, though the petrol car will be offered with a four-speed automatic option too.
The new Xcent is based on the design platform of Grand i10 hatchback and carries much of the small its styling. In fact, there’s nothing to differentiate the two cars right up as the fronty fascia is looks exactly the same. Although the car looks promising and follows the company's in-trend signature 'Fludic Design' and style language.
On the inside, the cabin is almost the same as the Grand i10, which means a smart dashboard and high levels of fit and finish. As with other Hyundai products, the Xcent will come loaded with features including rear air-con vents, rear parking camera, a push-button start and even a USB-ready audio system with one GB internal storage. Top variants will go one-up on the Grand i10 hatchback, however, with the inclusion of automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, dual front airbags and anti-lock brakes are some of the other features that come with this new Hyundai.
According to HMIL, the car will be 90 percent localised and will go on sale from the coming month.
