Hyundai, the number two manufacturer in India as per sales, has been working hard to increase the offerings from their stable and bring new products for the Indian customers. Well, few months back, the company launched the Hyundai Grand i10, which swelled the sales number of Hyundai brand by folds and Hyundai, in an attempt to tap the market potential for compact sedan cars, has started testing the sedan version of the Grand i10.
With first ever spy pictures surfacing on the Internet, the new Hyundai Grand i10 would compete against the market leader Maruti DZire and the Honda’s diesel engine debutant, the Amaze. The Hyundai Grand i10 sedan car caught on tape by IndianAutosBlog, looks production ready on the Chennai-Vellore road.
The test mule caught on camera resembles with the Grand i10 in many ways, the rear window has the similar flowing design like the Grand i10 and the C-Pillar looks more like inspired by the Honda Amaze, with a slung design.
Inside the car, Hyundai will keep carry the same equipment from Grand i10, which is best in the segment. The will be powered by the same engines that propel the Grand i10. The 1.2-liter Kappa2 petrol with the 1.1-liter U2 diesel mill would do the service on the sedan version of the Grand i10. Though it is very unlikely, Hyundai might use the 1.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine which powers the i20 hatchback. Being under 4-metres, the Hyundai Grand i10 sedan would enjoy special tax benefits from the government, which will allow the Korean manufacturer to put a competitive price tag on the new car.
With the new year around and Auto Expo 2014 coming soon, Hyundai is expected to make a production model and display the same during the upcoming Expo. Hyundai has launched many budget friendly cars in the past, which has taken the company to the position of number two in the market, the sedan Grand i10, when comes around would turn the heat even more in this segment.
