India's second largest carmaker Hyundai has some really good products lined-up for future. Yesterday, we told you about new Hyundai Santa Fe's unveiling on 6th February, and the company has confirmed the unveiling of the Grand i10 on 4th February. This is exactly three days ahead of the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, scheduled to start on 7th February. Both of these vehicles will also be showcased at the Expo.
Based on the Grand i10 platform (BA) , the compact sedan will also share its engine options and other components with the hatchback. This is the same vehicle which has been doing test-runs in India for quite sometime now. Being a sub-4 meter sedan, the Grand i10 based sedan will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze in India. The Grand i10 sedan will also share interiors with its hatchback cousin, which means there will also be rear AC vents. However, being a sedan, it will offer more space to its buyers along with a small boot that is merged well with the C-pillar.
The petrol version of the Grand i10 sedan will carry the 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol mill that churns out a maximum power output of 81.9bhp, while the 1.1-litre diesel engined version will produce 70bhp. The sedan version will also carry forward the same 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions, found in the hatchback.
As far as the pricing is concerned, we hope the Grand i10 sedan to be priced around Rs 1 lakh higher than the hatchback. Expected to be launched by the first quarter of 2014, the Grand i10 based sedan will also be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
