India’s second largest automobile manufacturer has officially revealed that the i10 Grand will be launched on the 3rd of September. The event will be held in the nation’s capital, New Delhi. As mentioned in earlier reports, the i10 Grand will hold a place between the standard i10 and i20 hatchbacks. Even though the brand has not yet officially started with the booking process, the Hyundai dealers across the country have already started it for themselves. The booking amount will vary according to the state the dealership is located in.
The i10 Grand will be available for the Indian citizens in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol engine will be a 1.2 liter 16 valve DOHC Kappa with 1197 CC of displacement, 76 BHP and 111 NM of Torque. This is the same engine that currently runs the standard i10 and i20 petrol series. The diesel engine will be 1.1 liter 4 valves per cylinder DOHC U2, with 74 BHP and 152 NM of Torque. This is a new block that will make its Indian debut in the i10 Grand.
The standard i10 has fared well in the Indian automobile market for over six years, since it was launched in 2007. This was the second successful car of Hyundai which came into the market after the legendary Santro, the standard i10 has held a place between the Santro and the now discontinued Getz. The Grand will have several features such as, height adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents, reverse assist camera, powered ORVMs and many more. The safety features include airbags and ABS. Another positive feature of this hatch will be its long wheelbase, it is expected to be more spacious than the standard i10. As far as the prices are concerned, the i10 Grand is expected to be priced at 4.5 to 5 lakhs ex-showroom.
