- Hyundai has presence in every segment in India.
- Hyundai India might launch a Maruti Ertiga rival soon.
- Hyundai will also launch next-gen Creta in 2020.
Hyundai India is contemplating introduction of an all-new MPV in the country. The company is currently evaluating and exploring all the possibilities and if the market demand in the MPV segment stays strong, it could foray into the segment. The South-Korean automaker has presence in almost every segment in the Indian market, be it compact sedan, be it small hatchback or be it mis-sized SUV and executive sedan. The presence in every segment has made it the country's second biggest automaker behind Maruti Suzuki.
SS Kim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recently speaking to the media on the launch of Grand i10 NIOS told that the company is conducting a lot of studies and research across various segments in the domestic market. If the results of the studies are positive then Hyundai will seriously consider the introduction of a MPV in India. Not so long ago, Hyundai had showcased the Hexa Space MPV as Concept model at the 2012 Auto Expo but it never materialized and made it to production. However, if the company is really optimistic about launching a MPV for the Indian market, there is a strong chance that it might use this model. It could be a real challenger to the Maruti Ertiga.

However, it is believed that the all-new Creta, based on the China-spec ix25, will be officially unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. Hyundai is also working agrressively towards the upgradation of its existing BSIV petrol and diesel engines to BS VI emission level. The recently launched Grand i10 NIOS at Rs 4.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) became the first Hyundai model to feature BS VI certified engine.
