Hyundai India has recorded its highest-ever domestic sales of 40,505 units and exports of 14,103 units with cumulative sales of 54,608 units for the month of August 2015. The South Korean automajor sold 33,750 units in August 2014 in India and hence, it registered a growth of 20 percent in domestic sales. However, the export was down by 1.8 percent as the company had exported 14,361 units in August 2014.
Commenting on the August sales Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP- Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, "Hyundai recorded highest-ever single month with a volume of 40,505 units and growth of 20% over the last year, led by strong youthful product portfolio in which the Global SUV CRETA & Elite i20 and i20 Active had volumes of more than 17,800 units showcasing the customers’ continued aspirational preference for new and exciting models even in these challenging times. Hyundai looks forward to sustain double digit growth above industry growth rate increasing market share in passenger vehicles". In case you want to know, Hyundai India launched the touch-screen equipped versions of i20 Active & Elite i20 in the country, just a couple of days back.
Currently, Hyundai's future lineup for India ain't clear, but it is being learnt that the company would foray into MPV segment by introducing an all-new vehicle based on the Hexa Space Concept. Being codenamed as IP, the new Hyundai MPV would rival the likes of Honda Mobilio & Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It is also believed that the new MPV could share majority of its elements with the Grand i10 hatchback, while both the engines - petrol as well as diesel - would be borrowed from the Verna mid-sized sedan.
