Hyundai India is all set to foray into the compact SUV domain by introducing the keenly-awaited ix25 in the country. The highly anticipated Hyundai ix25 compact SUV has already been spied a few times as test mule on the Indian roads near company's plant in Chennai. This time, IAB reader Jishnu has captured the SUV with camouflage and reportedly, it would be launched around the festive season (October-November) in India.
Rnage-topping Hyundai ix25 variants would flaunt LED DRLs with projector headlamps, and large 16 inch 5-spoke alloy rims. Dimension-wise, the ix25 measures 4.27m in length in China, and it seems that Hyundai is not going to alter its length in India as well. Well, the aforesaid length makes it a direct competitor of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and likes. Hyundai has made clear that in order to keep the pricing aggressive, the ix25 compact SUV would have over 90 percent localization of content. It would be manufactured at Chennai production facility, just like every other company product.
Mechanically, Hyundai ix25 would come in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. It is expected to be sharing the engines with Verna mid-sized sedan as the petrol variant of ix25 would have the 1.4L VTVT motor with 105.5 bhp of top power, while the diesel variants would draw their power from a 1.4L U2 diesel engine, which churns out 88.7 bhp. The company is also expected to come up with high-performance variant in both the guises with a heavier 1.6L petrol and diesel motor. However, it remains to be under curtains that whether Hyundai would launch the ix25 in a 4X4 avatar or not, as Renault Duster - its arch rival - comes in a AWD variant. It would be priced in a bracket of Rs. 8-10 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom)
