Hyundai Kona Electric made its launch in India on July 9, 2019, at a sticker price of Rs 25.30 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Hyundai Kona Electric has bagged 120 bookings these bookings are confirmed by the buyers in a nick of 10 days. That apart, Hyundai dealerships have received around 10,000 test drive requests with the same time period.
Hyundai Kona Electric Draws its power from 39.2kWh battery pack that gets an ARAI tested range of 452 km on just single charge. The motor makes 135 bhp with 395 Nm of top torque, where this motor is paired with a single-speed automatic gearbox. The Kona electric can do 0 – 100 kmph in 9.7 seconds. It can be charged quickly with a fast charger and be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 57 minutes with a 50kW DC charger. Whereas, with the use of a 3-pin, domestic AC supply (16A), it could take around 19 hours of charging time.
Speaking of the equipment, the Kona electric comes packed with features such as split headlamp setup with LED daytime running lights, keyless entry, sunroof, automatic climate control, front ventilated seats, 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For safety, it gets ABS, six airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking camera with sensors and hill-start assist.
Since its introduction in the international market in April 2018, Hyundai Kona Electric has garnered as many as 15,000 unit sales globally. While in India, the Kona electric is being retailed through 15 dealerships in around 11 cities. The price of the EV is still a bit high at Rs 25.3 lakh, but there is the possibility of it to get benefits of around Rs 1.40 lakh with the recent GST proposal made for the EVs.
