Hyundai Kona electric SUV will be launched in India on July 9, 2019. The electric SUV was previewed officially in February 2018. Visually, the Hyundai Kona electric is largely same as the standard version save for some elements such as redesigned grille in front and alloy wheels at sides.

Hyundai Kona images of the test mule running across the country have surfaced on the inter-web lately, revealing details deeming its styling. The Korean car giant also plans on assembling the SUV locally in a bid to keep Hyundai Kona price competitive. Details regarding the Hyundai Kona interior are yet sketchy, though more information will be revealed as launch nears.

While the electrified Kona will make its debut in India, the model is already being retailed in international markets. The global-spec model comes in two options-a 39kW battery pack and a 64kW unit. As per claims, the 39kW version can return 312km of range and the 64kW version can run up to 482km on a single charge.

As for the Indian market, Hyundai Kona specs will include a 39kW battery pack with 136 hp of power and 395 Nm torque. This version is claimed to propel to 100 km/h from rest within 9.7 seconds while attaining a top speed of 155 km/h. The lithium-ion battery pack can be charged up to 80 per cent in less than an hour (54 minutes) through a 100kW DC fast charger. It takes around 6 hours and 10 minutes when charged through a standard AC charger. Knowing that electric vehicles are not very popular in India, Hyundai is targeting monthly sales of just 60 units initially. Coming to the Hyundai Kona electric price in India, it is estimated to range between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
