The Hyundai Kona Electric SUV has suddenly exploded in Île-Bizard, Montreal, Canada. The electric SUV which is currently on sale in a number of international markets from the past several months found with such incident. A guy, Piero Cosentino bought the Kona EV in March 2019 and on this Saturday, dated 26 July, he heard the explosion sound and then fire alarm started ranging while he was doing his lunch.
Piero immediately turned off the breaker so that he can go outside without opening the doors and stop the fire. With the help of garden hose, he started trying to stop the fire prior to the firefighters' arrival.
Explosion damage was quite dangerous as it set the garage door to the other side as well as a portion of the roof was affected severely. It took 30 men to control the fire after a long. The Division Chief of Montreal Fire Department, Louise Desrosiers said that he didn’t found any possible cause of the fire.
As the reason for the explosion is not known yet, the all-electric Kona SUV had nothing to do around the explosion. Although, the investigation is on a cause is not found yet. According to the owner, the Kona EV was not at the charge when the explosion happened.
Owing to the property damage, Piero Cosentino, as well as his neighbours, are not going in their homes till the time cause has been known. Several modern electric cars seen exploded, however, the Kona EV has never seen in such accident.
The new Hyundai Kona Electric has recently launched in India with a price tag of Rs 25.3 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) and it comes with a driving range of 452kmph as certified by ARAI. It is the first all-electric SUV in India that comes with 1,60,000 km battery or 8-year warranty.
