India’s second largest carmaker, Hyundai has just launched the all new version of its premium hatchback i20 in New Delhi today, called the Elite i20. The car will cost Rs 4.89 lakh for the base petrol while the base diesel version costs Rs 6.09 lakh. The top-end versions of the car cost Rs 6.46 lakh and Rs 7.66 lakh(all, ex-showroom, Delhi) for petrol and diesel repectively.
The importance of the Indian market for Hyundai can be seen from the fact that the company chose India as the venue for this car’s global unveil. European markets will see this car only at the Paris Motor show in two months from now.
The new i20 comes with the same set of engines from the last gen-car. So you get the 1.4-litre diesel with 89bhp diesel along with 1.2-litre petrol with 81bhp.
The new Elite i20’s styling is based on Hyundai’s very popular and stylish Fluidic theme. The design language is very similar to that seen on the Grand i10 and the more recent Xcent sedan. The low mounted hexagonal grille along with the stylish headlamps is the key talking point. The rear also looks sporty now.
The new Elite i20 gets a host of features that give it plenty of appeal. Hyundai have carried on with the dual-tone dash that gets a light-beige top and dark brown bottom half. Quality levels are brilliant and the top-end version comes loaded with goodies. You get start/stop button, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple airbags, climate control among other things. It also gets features like rear AC vents and cooled glovebox for added convenience.
The car is now available across Hyundai dealerships across the country and is available in seven colour schemes.
