Towards the end of last month, we heard Hyundai’s plans to officially inaugurate its N performance division and now they have unveiled the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept which was developed exclusively for the Gran Turismo 6 video game available on the PlayStation 3 console. It looks like a futuristic racecar with a highly aerodynamic body painted in light blue with black and red accents.
Don’t expect to see a combustion engine in this concept as it adopts a hydrogen powertrain unleashing a massive combined output of 871 bhp. This is possible thanks to the two fuel cell stacks producing 670 bhp along with a super capacitor system that generates an additional 201 bhp. The entire power is sent to the road with help from four in-wheel motors which give the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo “uncompromised traction”, according to Hyundai.
Tipping the scales at just 972 kg, the concept should be a blast to drive thanks to a lightweight construction possible by installing a rigid CFRP monocoque while the compact fuel cell stacks adopt a lightweight construction. With a very impressive power-to-weight ratio, we can only assume the concept is extremely quick as far as accelerations are concerned while the top speed should also be quite amazing.
Moreover, Hyundai says the soundtrack provided by the N Vision Gran Turismo is also special thanks to the air blower’s turbine that spins at a whopping 200,000 rpm, granting the hydrogen-powered vehicle with a “distinct racecar roar.”
Those who are fans of this futuristic racecar should know that it will soon be available on the PS3 for free, joining a plethora of Vision Gran Turismo concepts developed specifically for Polyphony Digital’s game, such as the recently introduced Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo which will also remain only in the virtual word as there aren’t any plans to make it.
