Korean automaker, Hyundai will officially unveil its new flagship 8-seater SUV on November 28, 2018 at the LA Motor Show. The brand's biggest SUV is expected to be launched in select European markets in 2019. Ahead of the big unveil, clear picture of the Hyundai Palisade has been leaked on the internet.
The leaked photo reveals that the Hyundai Palisade styling is inspired from the HDC-2 Grandmaster concept. Featuring muscular looks, the Palisade comes with a squared-off face, sharply raked C-pillar and an aggressive front. Chrome treatment can be seen on the grille, bumper and window line, which adds to the premium character. More details about the new SUV will arrive on the day of unveiling. This over-5-meter long SUV is based on the upcoming Kia Telluride SUV, which is expected to be unveiled later this year. The new model will be longer, taller and wider than the brand's current Santa Fe. The SUV will come in two seating configurations - 5 and 7.
The Hyundai Palisade is expected to be powered by a 3.3-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that produces 365bhp of power and 510Nm of torque. This engine is also expected to power the upcoming sister SUV - Kia Telluride. Hyundai could also add a plug-in hybrid variant, which features a 270bhp, 3.5-litre, V6 petrol engine and a 130bhp electric motor. In select markets, the SUV could receive the more powerful version of the 2.2-litre diesel engine that also powers the Santa Fe. For transmitting power to the wheels, the SUV will have an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
This flagship SUV will be equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features. It is likely to receive an electrically foldable third row, a 360-degree surround view system, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, 3-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, leather seats, etc. The Hyundai Palisade will first go on sale in the American market in 2019. It is quite early to comment whether this SUV will arrive in India or not. We believe that this SUV could serve as a brand's halo product in India.
