Hyundai registers meager growth in its domestic sales last month

Snapshot: Hyundai India recorded cumulative sales of 51,708 units in March 2014 with a fall of 8.4 per cent as compared to last year

Hyundai India recorded cumulative sales of 51,708 units in March 2014 in India. Out of these 35,003 units were sold locally while the rest 16,705 units were exported. Although the company's local sales increased by a meager 3.4 per cent year on year basis, but cumulative sales is down by 8.4 per cent for the last month. The company has lost ground majorly in its offshore markets as export sales fell down to 16,705 units from 22,579 units in the preceding year.

Commenting on March sales, Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice-President sSles and Marketing, HMIL said, “Post the reduction of excise duty and with the strong performance in compact segment; Hyundai registered March sales of 35,003 units with a growth of 3.4% over corresponding month indicating a build-up of positive momentum.”

Hyundai has been maintaining its portfolio well with a total of ten different models on offer, including the recently-launched Xcent sedan ( watch our Video Review) in India. The Korean automaker holds the second largest car producer and largest car exporter positions in the country. Hyundai also has a wide network of 388 dealerships and almost 1000 service points in India while its exports reach more than 120 countries from its Indian arm.
