Hyundai had earlier announced that it would unveil four new products on December 10, i.e. today. The four new products unveiled by the company are: New Generation i20 Coupe, New i30, New i30 Turbo, and New i40 Tourer & Saloon. As for the i20 coupe, For the first time, the company has created a three-door B-segment car that is significantly differentiated from the five-door model.
Since the i40 and i30 are a part of Hyundai's European vehicle marquee, the new models of both these cars can't be expected to arrive in India. However, the new i20 coupe might just come to India as the company is keen on expanding the i20 family and even has confirmed the launch of a crossover based on the i20 hatchback in the first quarter of 2015. New Generation i20 Coupe has its own unique silhouette. The raked A-, B-, and C-pillars of the new i20 coupe are markedly different from the five-door model, providing the vehicle with a more dynamic profile. Despite its sportier appearance, the new coupe is still a practical car: the 336-litre boot space is best-in-class.
New Generation i20 Coupe is one of many new models that Hyundai Motor will introduce under its Product Momentum 2017 launch programme, supporting the future growth of the brand. Designed and engineered in Europe, the new coupe would be offered in both petrol and diesel guises with a range of powertrains. The petrol variants would be available with a 84PS 1.25L motor and a 100PS 1.4L engine, while the diesel variants would come loaded with a 75PS 1.1L engine and 90PS 1.4L powertrain. The company is keen on introducing a new 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with the coupe in late 2015. Both the petrol as well as the diesel motor would be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, while there would be a 4-speed automatic gearbox on offer with the 100PS 1.4L petrol engine.
