Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) has now silently introduced an automatic version of the Grand i10 in the country. Launched in two trim levels- Sportz and Asta, the automatic models are priced at Rs 5.95 lakh and Rs 6.23 lakh (prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai) respectively.
This is the same four-speed automatic transmission gearbox which is also found on the regular i10 and Hyundai i20. And like we reported in an earlier story, Hyundai might also introduce a diesel automatic Grand i10 in India; however, the company hasn't yet given an official take on the same.
Since it's just the automatic transmission gearbox added to the trims, there is no other change given to the car. The Grand i10 Sports trim comes with features like all four power windows, integrated 2-Din music system, push start-stop button, electric ORVMs, reverse parking sensors, tilt steering and several others. Asta being top-of-the-line variant additionally gets spoiler, rear defogger, alloy wheels, Bluetooth supported music system. There are no changes given to the design as well.
Under the hood of both the petrol trims is the same 1.2-litre Kappa 2 engine, which is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 81.9bhp at 6000 RPM, while yielding the peak torque of 113.8Nm at 4000 RPM. The new four-speed automatic transmission transmits power to the front wheels of the car.
Launched in September this year, the Grand i10 has already set a milestone by grabbing 13,000 bookings within initial 20 days, and this compelled Hyundai Motors India Ltd to expand its production capacity to fill the demand. Now when the company is also planning to launch a diesel automatic version of the car, it has become necessary to enhance its manufacturing capacity, so to not let the demand & supply gap widen further.
