Hyundai sales down by 7.6 per cent in June 2014

Snapshot: In the domestic market alone, the company registered a growth of 9.5 per cent.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd have reported a 7.6 per cent dip in total sales at 50,518 units in the month of June 2014. The company had sold 54,665 units in the same month last year. 

In the domestic market alone, Hyundai sold a total of 33,514 units in June 2014 as compared to 30,610 units in June 2013, which translated to a growth of 9.5 per cent.

In the exports segment, Hyundai shipped a total of 17,024 units in the month of June 2014 as compared to 24,055 units shipped in the same period last year. This translates to a 29.3 per cent dip in total exports. 

Commenting on the June sales numbers, Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president of sales and marketing said that the growth in the domestic sales has been due to the success of Xcent, Grand and Santa Fe. “With the extension of excise duty benefit, we hope to maintain the growth in volume, while strengthening our product portfolio and improving channel efficiencies.” Srivastava added.
