According to rumors, the South Korean car maker Kia motors is scouting for an area to set up its plant in India, and that the state administrations of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have offered land to the company. However, the company has declined to reveal any concrete plan for India.
As per a top executive, Kia is continuously evaluating the options to further expand its global business which includes India, but it has not yet finalised its entry. According to industry sources, Kia motors is expected to reveal its plan for India in the first quarter of 2017.
The entry of Kia Motors in India has been expected for a significant long time, and the organization is said to have completed a few studies on the plausibility in the Indian market. In spite of the fact that the speculation part and the product portfolio of the organization are yet to be known, it was being said that the organization will significantly hope to go up against the small cars from Maruti Suzuki. Kia Motors is known for its small cars across the globe.
Most of the vehicles from Kia motors share technology, platform, engine and transmission with Hyundai cars. For example, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Kia Sorento shares the same platform, but both the SUVs are very different from each other in every aspect. The case is same for Kia Sportage and the Hyundai Tucson, where both of them shares technology, platform etc., but both are positioned differently. If Kia enters the Indian market, then it will give Hyundai a great advantage as it will make Hyundai a more premium and luxurious brand.
