The demand for SUVs is showing no signs of fading as India is set to receive new models in the coming months. With almost every car giant in India jumping on the bandwagon, the SUV space is swelling in size, segmented into different sections based on various parameters. Emerging a game change for Hyundai in the sub-four meter segment, Hyundai’s latest entrant, Venue has clinched 8,763 unit sales in June 2019, bagging the second spot in the subcompact SUV space, while pushing its elder sibling Creta to the third position.
There has been a constant rise in Hyundai Venue’s sales since its launch in April this year with the SUV entering the top 5 UV sales chart in its debut month followed by an impressive sales of 7,049 unit in May. As Venue recorded 8,763 unit sales in June, it missed outpacing segment leader, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza by a narrow margin of 108 units.

What is working in the SUV’s favour, is its competitive pricing. That said, the Hyundai Venue price in India starts from Rs 5.60 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.84 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Venue carline is spread across six variants, namely-E, S, SX, SX+, SX dual-tone and SX (O) that are offered with a choice of two engines, in petrol and diesel fuel options. Coming to the Hyundai Venue specifications, the petrol trims derive power from a 1.2-litre unit good for top power of 83hp, this engine is paired to a manual gearbox. The diesel grades make use of a 1.4-litre engine, supported by a manual unit.
While the Indian automotive fraternity is feeling the heat with sales dropping constantly, SUVs have been able to maintain its grip on the market, witnessing a marginal slip in sales by up to 0.99 per cent in June 2019. Kia, another Korean brand, which is gearing up for its India debut with Seltos could turn out to be a key player as for the SUV space is concerned.
