Korean automaker, Hyundai has introduced a new 1.4-litre diesel engine option in its popular mid-sized sedan - Verna. This new engine will serve as an entry-level diesel option for the Verna sedan in India. The Hyundai Verna 1.4L is available in 2 variants - E and EX - priced at Rs 9.29 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine also powers the Hyundai Creta. This engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 220Nm between 1,500 - 2,750rpm. The other engine options with the Verna sedan include a 1.4-litre VTVT petrol, 1.6-litre VTVT petrol and a 1.6-litre CRDi diesel.
Not just this new engine, Hyundai has also introduced two new variants of the Verna 1.6-litre range. The Hyundai Verna 1.6L petrol version is now available on the new SX+ trim, which is placed between the Verna EX and the Verna SX(O) automatic. This variant is equipped with several high-end features including projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and push-button start. This model rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. It is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, this model gets leather upholstery for steering wheel and gear knob, along with wireless charging option.
The Hyundai Verna 1.6L Diesel SX(O) is the new top-end variant, which has all the features that are accessible in the lower trims. Additionally, this variant gets adjustable rear-seat headrests, ventilated leather seats and telescopic steering. Moreover, this variant comes with six airbags.
The Hyundai Verna 1.6L Petrol Automatic SX+ and 1.6L Diesel Automatic SX(O) variants are priced at Rs 11.52 lakh and Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The new 2018 Verna rivals the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
