Hyundai Xcent commercially debuts in India at INR 4.66 Lakhs

Snapshot: Hyundai Xcent launched in India @ INR 4.66 Lakhs and will rival the Swift DZire and the Honda Amaze

South Korean automaker, Hyundai has finally given its all-new 2014 Xcent sedan a commercial debut in the Indian market with prices starting at INR 4.66 Lakhs.

The compact sedan was first presented at the recently concluded 2014 Delhi Motor Show and is the second Hyundai vehicle to launch this year after the all-new Sante Fe SUV.

The sub 4-metre Hyundai Xcent shares a lot of similarities with its younger sibling, the Grand i10 in terms of design and styling - that is until the C-pillar. Post that, the sliding roofline nicely merges into the stubby boot. The compact sedan offers spacious seating and interiors, which are also derived from the hatchback. But unlike the competition, the Xcent looks like a car that was designed as a sedan, rather than a hatchback with an added boot.

As expected Hyundai has packed the Xcent with tons of comfort features and few segment-first features such as the such as the rear AC vent, smart key push button entry and USB audio system with internal storage.

The Xcent is offered in both petrol and diesel variants in India. The petrol variant of the car comes with the same 83 ps-1.2 litre kappa 2 motor, which powers the Grand i10 hatchback and the diesel model is powered by 72ps-1.1 litre diesel engine. These engines will come mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, while a 4-Speed automatic transmission is also on offer with the petrol variants. As per company claimings, the petrol variants provides 19.1 kmpl of fuel efficiency, while the diesel engine returns 24.4 kmpl.

As always is the case with Hyundai cars, there are at least a dozen of variants to chose from across four trim levels: Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. The Hyundai Xcent will compete with the likes of Honda Amaze and the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in the Indian market.

Given below is the list of the variants and the corresponding prices of the 2014 Hyundai Xcent:
