A lot is happening in the Formula 1 circuit these days and you can't afford to blink your eye for even a moment. While the design of the future F1 cars has always been a favorite pass-time for independent designers as well as constructors' themselves (remember when Ferrari presented their futuristic F1 car), the time is near when even the F1 management is seriously considering revamping the design of F1.
And it's not because the F1 car looks ugly or something like that, it's purely because of safety purposes. Everyone is interested to know what the future F1 car may look like and amidst many ideas including full canopy, semi-closed canopy and closed cockpit designs, an independent designer based out of Turkey has presented his futuristic version of the F1 cars.
Named Olcay Tuncay Karabulut, the designer rendered a sleeker looking Formula 1 car through digital sketching, and we are damn impressed. And as if his radical idea of closed cockpit design was not enough, he chose an Alfa Romeo car a base of his design, sparking rumors about the Italian's return at the Formula 1 circuit.
The hypothetical AW30 belongs to the Alfa Romeo Grand Prix Engineering team and is already making a lot of headlines in the motorsports world. It all started with Sergio Marchionne's desire to put the Italian manufacturer back in the F1 arena with the Ferrari backing. Alfa Romeo last raced in the 1985 season before pulling out of the competition permanently.
Marchionne feels that Alfa Romeo is capable of producing its own engine and chassis and with the backing of Ferrari, a relatively much experienced name in the game, Alfa Romeo can do wonders. While the sketches are just a design exercise, it does serve as a reason why Marchionne's dream may be viable and possible and can help Alfa Romeo boost its image and sell more road cars.
Maybe Alfa Romeo can start with lower division like GP2 and work its way up to the major league - the Formula 1. Formula 1 is crumbling through a lot of controversies these days and may be the return of Alfa can help boost the image of F1, subject to availability of proper cars and suitable drivers that can match the Alfa's heritage.
Part of the FCA Group, the iconic marque is famous for manufacturing good looking road legal affordable cars, but a wrong decision to enter motorsports can tarnish its well-built reputation. Ferrari, on the other hand, is doing good in the current season as compared to the previous few seasons, but a possibility of Alfa's return purely on this basis will be a too early talk.
Although, we won't mind if Alfa Romeo will race in the F1 again.
As for the designs, you can look at them and feel the way we are doing!
