Audi would held the global début of the next generation Q7 at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show in January. But, the first clear images of the India-bound 2015 Q7 SUV have emerged on the web without any sort of camouflage, ahead of its much anticipated world première. The new Audi Q7 is expected to go on sale by mid 2015 in the North America and Europe, and then eventually making it to India by the end of 2015.
Going by the images, the 2015 Audi Q7 appears more wider but shorter in height as compared to the preceding model. Underpinning the company's new MLB Evo platform, it looks well sorted out as the previous generation SUV was a bit oversized and fatty. However, Audi has retained its signature element in the new generation SUV in form of Singleframe grille. The Matrix LED headlamps have been redesigned to provide a fresh appeal to the SUV. At the rear end, it boasts squarish tail-lamps, reminiscent of company's sedans such as A4 and A6. The new Q7 SUV is expected to have shed 300 kgs of weight as compared to its predecessor. Inside the cabin, the SUV adorns A retractable MMI screen, a throttle-like gearlever and a touch-screen system to control the MMI. In addition, the flush AC vents gives a glimpse of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat.
Looking closely at the steering wheel and fully digital instrument cluster of the 2015 Q7, it reminds of the new TT sedan and coupe. Audi has been immensely tight-lipped regarding the mechanical aspects of the SUV, but it is expected that next generation Q7 would draw power from a set of six- and eight-cylinder TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. Moreover, there is a Plug-in hybrid variant in offering as well and the company has confirmed the same. It would be priced in a domain of Rs. 75-90 Lakhs, when launched in the country. It would challenge the likes of Mercedes-Benz GL Class, BMW X5, and Volvo XC90 in India.
