We Indians have a strange fetish for the big bulky cars and that is why the SUVs like Mahindra Scorpio, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner gained so much repute in our country. Among many, Ford Endeavour is one of the oldest and the biggest SUV in the country today. After being in market for many years, Ford will be bringing the all new Endeavour in the country this year.
While much of the specifications were not revealed earlier, the now leaked spec sheet opens the technical specification of the upcoming SUV. The 2015 Endeavour measures 4882 mm in length, 1862 mm in width and 1836 mm in height while the wheelbase measures at 2850 mm. The SUV weighs a hefty 2357 kgs in its lightest form.
There are three engine options for the 2015 Ford Endeavour -
· 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel – 147 bhp and 385 Nm
· 3.2-litre 5-cylinder Duratorq diesel – 197 bhp and 470 Nm
· 2.0-litre Twin-Scroll EcoBoost petrol – 234 bhp and 360 Nm
There will be optional four wheel drive and automatic gearbox on offer on all the engines. In India, though, the only Diesel engine will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox. The Endeavour once launched will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, SsangYong Rexton, and the likes. The prices are expected to be competitive since the SUV will come via a CKD route.
