BMW 7-series is one of those vehicles in which head of the states like to roll, especially our own Prime Minister, whose official transportation is a BMW 7-series. Slated to debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Show, the 2015 BMW 7-series is making the rounds of the internet in the form of spy shots. And now, an independent artist has rendered the upcoming limousine, based on the spy photos and the rendered image gives us a look at the front of the high-end luxury sedan.
BMW isn't promising anything radical in terms of design change, but the mechanical changes and the technological changes are said to be something out of BMW's own comfort zone. From a lightweight chassis to wireless phone charging and other gazillions of driving assistance features, BMW 7-series promises to be one of the best offerings from the German brand ever.
Starting from the mechanical changes, the data sheet leaked for the BMW 7-series reveals a curb weight of 1745 kg, which is almost 170 kg lighter than the previous generation model. The reduced weight ensures an enhanced driving experience and improved efficiency. To achieve the results, BMW used carbon fiber reinforced plastic, magnesium, aluminum and high-strength steels for the structure.
Inside the car, the new 7-series will get features like an Innovative keyfob, redesigned iDrive, wireless charging of phones, gestures based navigation, laser lights and B&W Audio System. Along with the standard gadgets, the BMW 7-series will get a wide range of customizations like a Pure Design Excellence package and a BMW M Sport package.
On the engine front, the &-series will get a long list of the revamped engine lineup. Reports indicate that the luxury sedan will be offered with four gasoline engines, one diesel engine and two hybrid engines. All the engine will be tuned to perform efficiently with more power outputs. Also, a new 9-speed gearbox could be introduced in the upcoming model.
The 2016 BMW 7-Series will compete against the Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8, though BMW says that the 7-series will be noticeably more dynamic and will offer a more sublime driving experience like the Mercedes S-class.
