Datsun, the cost-effective brand of Nissan, has showcased its next offering, the India-bound sub 4-m MPV GO+ at the Indonesian International Motor Show 2014 (IIMS 2014). However, this MPV was also showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and was expected to hit the Indian shores during the festive season in 2014. But it seems the company has scrapped it in favor of an early 2015 launch for the Indian markets.
The Datsun GO+ would be India's first sub-4m MPV that would accommodate 7 individuals. Underpinning the Micra's V-platform, similar to GO hatchback, it would offer decent space inside the cabin with economical price tag. The MPV would have a wheelbase of around 2450mm which would ensure sufficient inner cabin spaciousness. The Datsun GO+, in Indonesia, is priced in range of 85 million Rupiah to 102.9 million Rupiah which in Indian currency is approx. Rs. 4.33 - 5.49 Lakhs. It is being introduced in 4 grades - D, A, T and T-Option. So, a similar price or a few extra bucks added to this sum can be expected as price in India upon its arrival.
Under the bonnet, the GO+ MPV would have 1.2L, 3-cylinder, petrol motor which would generate a modest power of 68 bhp and 104 Nm of torque. It would be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine specifications and transmissions are exactly similar with the GO hatchback, company's first vehicle in India, launched in March 2014. What more, Datsun also showcased the accessorized version of the MPV with additional body kits and alloy wheels at the IIMS, like it did with the GO at its India launch.
