After showing the entry level hatchback 'GO' in India earlier this year, Nissan's low cost car brand Datsun has now unveiled a seven seat MPV called the Go+ at the recently concluded Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). Since the Datsun brand has been revived for the growing markets like India, Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa, this entry level MPV will also hit the Indian shores sometime in 2014. However, the Indian debut of the vehicle is likely to happen at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
Datsun Go+ shares its platform with the Go hatchback, though the former has been made long enough to fit three row seats to accommodate 7 people. And since the wheelbase is the same 2450mm long, it will help the company price it quite competitive to rival Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in our country. However, Maruti Ertiga has a longer wheelbase.
In terms of design, the Go+ looks all the same as the Go Hatchback up to the rear wheel, it's just the extra space provided for the third row, taking the overall length of the car to 3995mm. The length of the car brings it to the sub-four metre compact car category, which will attract a lower excise duty, thus pricing it even more competitive.
The petrol version of the GO+ hatchback will sport the same 1.2-litre, in-line petrol engine that produces 75bhp of maximum power at 6000 RPM, however there is no officially confirmation yet on the diesel engine.
