The Jeep Compass SUV, bound for India has been spotted in Brazil in a production guise. The SUV was spied during a local TVC shoot. The spyshot gives the first look of the next generation Compass’s exterior design that will make its digital reveal in the coming few weeks. Seen in the spy images is the top spec model that features a dual-tone exteriors along intense use of chrome, that could make its way to India.
Going by the looks, the new Jeep will go with traditional SUV-ish styling sharing some cues from its big brother, Grand Cherokee with a bit of edgy touch as seen on the present Renegade. It gets a bold along with wide appearance, tapered headlamps with a shallow grille between them. Just like other Jeep products you will also find a squared wheel arches. While at the rear, you will see taillamps with LED units housed in it and a roof spoiler.
The interior of the SUV will come loaded with some features same as seen on its other bigger siblings such as the large 8-inch screen U-Connect infotainment system as seen on the Grand Cherokee, climate control, push button start – stop.
In Brazil, the new Jeep Compass will be offered with a 2.0-litre flex-fuel and a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel unit. But for Indian market, the company will introduce the model with 2.0-litre Multijet power unit sourced from Fiat and will be locally made in India. So this means that the new SUV will be priced quite competitive in the country, where it will be locally assembled at the FCA-Tata JV Ranjangaon plant near Pune and the model will also be exported to other international market specifically for right hand drive.
Last month, Jeep has officially entered into India by launching the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee with the top-spec SRT version. Where these two models come through the CBU route. The C SUV is expected to price around 17 lakh for a well equipped version.
