- MG eZS to get an all petrol variant with a 1.5L engine.
- MG eZS also get a petrol-electric hybrid variant with a 1.0L engine.
- MG eZS fossil fuel-powered version might not make it to India.
MG Motor India is all set to launch the all-electric eZS SUV in December in the country. However, it is being learned that the company, in addition to the electric version, could also launch a petrol variant with a 1.5L engine and a hybrid variant with a 1.0L petrol engine. The official documents of the MG eZS, which have been leaked, confirmed this claim.
Going by the leaked circular of the Transport Department, MG has already acquired permission for a petrol and hybrid variant of the ZS. The 1.5L petrol unit is expected to churn out 106bhp while the 1.0L petrol engine with an electric motor is believed to deliver top power of 111bhp.
The aforementioned powertrain setups are also offered with the eZS in several global markets. The 1.5L petrol engine is naturally aspirated while the 1.0L unit comes with a turbocharger and direct injection technology. The India-spec model will be the pre-facelift version instead of the recently unveiled facelifted model.
Coming to the all-electric MG eZS, it will house a 44.5kWh battery pack which will give it a driving range of 262 kilometers on a single charge. It has been certified by the World Harmonized Light-duty Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). The company will equip it with a 150bhp electric motor.
Though MG has refrained from divulging the details of the fossil fuel-powered version of the ZS SUV and whether it will be introduced at all in the Indian market or not. Stay tuned to this page for more details regarding the MG eZS launch in India.
