BMW, at a very rapid pace, giving a makeover to all the exiting models the portfolio. After revealing the facelifted 3-series, BMW will now move towards the 5-series and 7-series facelift, both of which have been spied quite a few times now. Based on the spy shots, AutoForum has rendered the flagship next-generation 7-series sedan.
The 2016 BMW 7-Series is based on the all-new platform known as the 35up (codename) that helps the top-of-the-line Bimmer lose as much as 130 kg weight. The weight loss is supported by use of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) in the passenger cell compartment. BMW will also give a remote parking feature, that will park the car in garages without a driver, in the new 7-series.
BMW will also give the new 7-series a host of new and tuned engines. BMW has already confirmed an all-new in-line six cylinder petrol motor with a TwinPower Turbo technology. This particular engine will be used in the G11 7 series (the long wheelbase 7-series is named G12). The engine will come mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to rear or all-four wheels according to need.
The 7-series from is closely pitted against the other German bigwigs, the Mercedes S-Class and the Audi A8. BMW will reveal the car at the upcoming 215 Frankfurt Auto Show, while the global launch can happen in late 2015, followed by the India launch sometime in 2016.
