The French automaker, Renault, has unveiled the Brazil-spec Kaptur, as Captur, at the ongoing Sao Paulo Auto Show 2016. The car is made on the Duster platform, but a bit longer by 211mm, wider by 35mm and taller by 47mm.
The general design continues as that of the previous Kaptur which was formally uncovered for Europe not a long ago itself. The Renault Kaptur highlights an aggressively designed face and is furnished with elements like projector headlamps and uniquely designed LED DRLs. The side gets rugged matte cladding that gives the SUV a masculine look. The Kaptur accompanies a 204mm of high ground leeway, which floats over greater potholes effortlessly. The Kaptur is furnished with a 17-inch splendidly designed alloy wheels. Few of the variations might also get a dual tone white and black colour plan.
The Kaptur is also supposed to make its way to India. Renault will equip the SUV with the same 1.5-liter diesel that does duty in the Duster in a different state of tune. The mill will be further mated to either a 5-speed or 6-speed manual transmission system. Renault might even equip the SUV with a 6-speed Easy-R AMT that made its debut in the Duster recently.
Once you step inside the SUV, you will be surprised to see the quality of the cabin. The new SUV will feature premium materials compared to that of the Duster. The SUV gets a 7.0-inch infotainment system just like Duster.
The India-bound Kaptur is expected to be priced around Rs 16 lakhs, and once launched it will lock horns with the likes of XUV 500 and the upcoming Tata Hexa.
