Hyundai Santa Fe is probably the best looking SUV under Rs 50 Lakhs in India. But Hyundai has a tough time selling the SUV in India, the price being the main factor. Retailing upwards of Rs 25 Lakhs, the Korean SUV loses big time against Honda CRV and Toyota Fortuner, for the latter is really bulky and reflects the quintessential SUV design.
And now Hyundai has been caught testing the next-generation 2016 Santa Fe. These are the first images of the SUV without any camouflage and one can notice considerable changes on the front fascia of the Santa Fe. The front bumper is completely redesigned while the chrome is added generously to the fog lights and grille.
Moving over to the sides, chrome is added to the 2016 Santa Fe’s B-pillars and window lines, which was earlier done with the gloss black finish. The 10 spoke alloy wheels remains the same, but with a more polished finished as compared to the dull look in the current model. Moving to the rear of the car, there are no changes to the Santa Fe.
The facelifted Santa Fe will be the first mass-produced hybrid SUV for the Korean autogiant, according to some reports that comes with a new e-4WD system. The front wheels will be powered by the engine, while the electric motor will engage the rear wheels of the Santa Fe. The battery powering the electric motor will be charged by regenerative braking.
Hyundai launched the Santa Fe at the 2014 Auto Expo and the new generation Santa Fe could also be launched at the Auto Expo 2016. Global launch could very well happen in a couple of months from now.
