India is one of the most important motorcycle markets for Honda and currently India is the second largest market for Honda two-wheelers. One in every four two-wheelers sold by Honda globally is from India and with time Honda is climbing up the ladder in the Indian two-wheeler market. Honda manufactures scooters like Activa which is the best selling Indian scooter of all time, and their motorcycles like Dream series, CB Shine and CB Unicorn are doing good against the rivals. According to Honda, India will be their biggest market in the world by the year 2018.
Honda has already launched eight models in the starting five months of 2015 and it is expected that the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer will come up with couple of more launches by the end of this year. Some of the motorcycles that will be launched by Honda shortly are CBR650F, Livo 110cc (CB Twister replacement), new CBR150R and CBR250R. If compared to the fiscal year of 2009-10, Honda sold 1.2 million units in that fiscal, while the rate is now grown to 4.45 million of units in the 2014-15 fiscal year, at this pace India will be the biggest motorcycle market by the end of 2018 for Honda. Honda is also scheduling to start operations at their new manufacturing facility in Gujarat and this will help Honda to reach a total of 5.8 million units production capability by early 2016.
