Power on FTR series is derived from a new liquid-cooled 1,203cc V-twin unit tuned to 120 bhp against 112.5 Nm of top torque. Transmission duties are carried over by a six-speed gearbox. The new liquid-cooled unit is inspired by the championship-winning FTR 750 flat-track race bike. On the feature front, the FTR 1200 S gets a bunch of premium tech including selectable riding modes that are controlled by a 4.3-inch coloured touchscreen instrument console and Bosch stability control with a six-axis inertial sensor. Even though the engine is inspired by the Scout, it is composed of 80 per cent all-new elements, besides, this unit gets a higher compression ratio.
While FTR 1200 will soon be available for retail, a streetfighter style version based on the FTR 1200, likely to be called FTR 1200 Sport could be rolled-out sometime next year. In addition, also expect an adventure-touring model, expected to be named FTR 1200 Rally could come out in 2021.
