Is Mercedes trying to buy a stake in MV Agusta?
Snapshot: According to the rumours, the Daimler group is pretty eager to invest in a minority stake in MV Agusta
In 2012, when Ducati was struggling to stay strong on its feet with huge debts and a future that was just bleak, Audi came to its rescue by bailing it out and getting hold of it. It seems that another German automotive giant is now eyeing an another Italian motorcycle manufacturer.
If the rumours are to be believed, Daimler group has expressed its desire to buy a stake in MV Agusta - an another Italian maker whose bikes are globally known to be masterpieces. But there is a little difference in two situations here, Ducati was on the brink of collapsing when Audi came for its rescue whereas MV Agusta is performing fairly well as of now. The brand is trending, the sales figures are growing, and the growth is steady which makes it a very lucrative investment for those who have some good money to shell out.
The CEO of MV Agusta, Giovanni Castiglioni has said on a few occasions that for the brand to grow and expand, it needs massive investments which can happen only from some third party investors. Both the companies have not commented on this deal so far which makes us believe that there is something going on for sure.
