There is no denying the fact that the Toyota Innova is the only reason for the Japanese manufacturer to cherish in India. Toyota offers some half-a-dozen cars in India, but only the MPV is able to find a deep place in the Indian market. While Toyota recently updated the Innova with minor styling changes in exteriors and major shuffling in interiors, a recent image posted by our friends at Flywheel reveals a completely new look of Toyota Innova.
The publication states that their reliable source in Indonesia and Thailand have sent the images and claim that the tagline of the next-generation Innova will be the "new name for luxury in India". The new Innova will largely be based on the Hilux pick-up truck platform which also underpins the new Fortuner. And going by the leaked image, the front of the Innova is completely re-done.
The chrome finished two-slat grille extends to the LED headlamps and is borrowed from some of the hatchbacks. While the current Innova is more of a traditional design, the new Innova will adorn a sportier look, thanks to a wider air-dam and new fog-lamps. On the side, there is a new shoulder line in middle extended till the D-pillar and the glass-area is reduced to make look MPV more aggressive.
While there are no images of the interiors, Flywheel claims that it will be more upmarket and host a lot of features. They will be more luxurious and comfort oriented. The engine details are also not clear and one can expect more tuned set of engines. The MPV can be showcased at the upcoming 2016 Auto-Expo to be held between 5-9 Feb., 2016.
