With slow and steady progress through the Indian domestic market, ISUZU is launching yet another variant of the MU-7 SUV. This big intimidating off-roader will now be available with an automatic transmission mated to its 3.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine. Also the interior now gets tow tone beige and black dashboard and a 3 spoke steering wheel with mounted audio controls. Priced at Rs 23.90lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the MU-7 AT has been priced competitively and is up Rs 2.5lakh over its manual transmission sibling.
The Automatic Transmission of the MU-7 gets backed up by 333Nm of peak torque delivered between 1600-3200rpm. Independent double wishbone, torsion bar spring and anti-roll bar for the front and rigid gas-sealed shock absorbers in the front and rear, are tuned to provide maximum comfort on Indian roads, with the automatic transmission adding to ease of driving.
The new two tone dashboard gets a high gloss lacquer finish wood trim to add some elegance to the functional interior. Also a new Kenwood 6015 BT music system gets added advantage of navigation in it.
For convenience, Isuzu has given this new top variant a rear parking sensor which is more necessary and we think must come on all models. But what could not trickle down to all the models is a rear view camera synchronised with the touch screen display.
Naohiro Yamaguchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India, says, “We are happy to add the new MU-7 AT variant to our current product portfolio. In line with ISUZU’s philosophy to constantly study the market and offer customers a great experience, we now add the new Automatic Transmission variant with more enhanced features on the interior. Many have approached us for an Automatic variant in the MU-7 and with this launch we are sure that a wider range of SUV enthusiasts will prefer the MU-7”.
