Jaguar, British luxury carmaker that had unveiled the Jaguar C-X17 Sports Crossover Concept at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show has now previewed the vehicle at the 2013 Dubai International Motor Show. The only difference that we see in both the vehicles is the different colour shade. While at the Frankfurt, the C-X17 was in blue paint, the vehicle unveiled in Dubai is in new Silver hue.
The Jaguar C-X17 has been built on the all new advanced aluminum platform called as iQ [AI], on which several other Jaguar vehicles too will be built in future. Just like Range Rover's all aluminum monocoque structure platform version, this platform has been designed to be both strong and light. The first vehicle to be rolled out built on this new platform will be a new mid-sized saloon in 2015. The C-X17 too will be rolled out sometime in 2015.
In terms of design, the C-X17 has taken its inspiration from the Jaguar XF, especially the head and tail lights. Expected to be priced below the existing XF, the new crossover will compete against the likes of Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
The Jaguar C-X17 SUV will be introduced in different engine options, so to ensure different power and torque producing capability of the car. Along with some new petrol and diesel powertrains developed by the JLR's UK based manufacturing unit, the V6 F-type petrol mill will also be offered with the car. Having a length of 4718mm and height of 1649mm, the C-X17 surely has dimensions of a compact crossover and a comfort like a saloon.
Considering the kind of popularity the crossovers has received in India over the last 3-4 years, we might see the vehicle coming to our shores as well. However, JLR hasn't yet shared its plans of launching the vehicle here.
