Jaguar C-X17 SUV spotted testing, big potential for India

Snapshot: New Jaguar C-X17 spotted testing on European roads. Launch expected in 2016

The new baby SUV 'C-X17' from the Jaguar's stable recently got photographed on test in some European country. The C-X17 concept debuted last year at LA Motor Show and this all-new model is expected to reach production stage around the end of 2015. The C-X17 will challenge the likes of Porsche Macan and will be Jaguar's first-ever SUV. Interestingly, Jaguar had also showcased the C-X17 at 2014 AutoExpo India last month and arguably the model looked graceful in a never-seen-before metallic gold shade.

While the new Porsche Macan is more of like a proper SUV, the new Jaguar C-X17 is inspired with coupe body style, similarly as Range Rover Evoque proportions are. Even, the automaker has also classified the model as a 'sports crossover'. The new Jag sits on a newly-developed all-aluminium architecture that will underpin the upcoming XE saloon too. Power will come from the new Ingenium family of 4-cylinder diesel and petrol engines. However, the drive configuration (whether Rear or Front Wheel Drive) cannot be judged as of now, although power is likely to get transferred through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The new model will be targeted at young buyers in the segment and hopefully the die-hard love for the SUVs in India might make itself a potential market for the C-X17. The C-X17 is expected to be on sale in 2016.
