Jaguar Land Rover, the British luxury marquee, has announced the world premiere of the all-new Jaguar E-PACE compact performance SUV on July 13, 2017. Being the company's third SUV model, it would join the likes of F-PACE, which was the 2017 World Car of the Year, and Jaguar’s all-electric I-PACE Concept SUVs. The E-PACE would feature sports car-derived AWD technology and an all-Ingenium line-up of petrol and diesel engines, as well as a suite of connected technology and safety features. Jaguar has announced indicative pricing for the E-PACE from £28,500 (Around Rs. 23.21 Lakhs) in the UK.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, said, "The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-PACE stands out. Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-PACE will do just that, albeit with its own individual character." The styling of the E-PACE would be on the lines of F-PACE, however, expect inclusion of certain distinctive elements to distinguish it from the elder sibling. The teaser image showcases the tail-lamp cluster which would boast of LED lights but not round bottomed like the F PACE. Speaking of the Jaguar F-PACE, it contributed to the success of the brand in FY16/17 which saw an 83 percent increase in sales year on year.
As for the all-electric I-PACE concept, it was revealed in November 2016 while previewing a production car that will go on sale in 2018. Recently, Rohit Suri, JLR India Boss, said that Indian buyers have to wait a little longer for the all-electric performance SUV as the company would launch it in the country as and when the ecosystem and infrastructure are in right place. Suri also revealed that the company would be bringing 10 new products this year. It would be introducing the new Land Rover Discovery in October this year, while the Range Rover Velar would be launched in November in the Indian market. Jaguar Land Rover currently has 8-9 percent share in Indian luxury market and it expects growth in double digit in 2017-18, banking on the launch of new models and implementation of GST.
