There were rumors, doing the rounds that Jaguar is introducing the F-type coupe with an all-wheel-drive system and might present it at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show. Now, it appears to be quite certain as the coupe with the same drivetrain has been spied being hauled on a trailer. Partially camouflaged at the front end, the vehicle was spied when it was leaving the British manufacturer’s Castle Bromwich production plant.
The disguised front end indicates that the hood might be featuring subtle modification to accommodate the additional running gear. In another spy-shot, that we have, the 'AWD' badging is clearly visible on the right side at the rear. The sticker at the front windscreen reveals that it is not a definite production car but a ‘plant launch vehicle’. The 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show, which is just around 4 weeks away, will commence in Novemeber and it seems that the Jaguar F-type coupe is heading to a port to get exported there. The company has refrained from speaking anything on the all-wheel-drive system being introduced with the F-type.
At the recently concluded Paris Motor Show, Andy Goss, Sales Director, Jaguar Land Rover, suggested there was plenty still to come from the F-Type. He said: “We’re just at the start of the story for this car. If you look at what our rivals offer [manual/automatic, rear-drive/all-wheel drive, coupe/convertible], we want to compete, but we will do what’s right for us, not just copy our competitors.” If at all, the Jaguar F-type comes with an all-wheel-drive system, then India too is favourable choice for the company as XF and XJ with the same drivetrain are raking in some great moolah for Jaguar in the country. The all-wheel-drive system is likely to be offered with 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines with the coupe.
