‘Jaguar’ sports models with their traditional bucket seats and elegant exteriors and interiors are an impressive sight with their ground hugging body and slylish wheels, when they whizz by on Indian roads. Each model which is launched under this brand is anxiously waited and accepted enthusiastically by prospective buyers and public alike. ‘Jaguar India’ the Indian wing of the brand has announced that it is going to launch ‘F Type’ model in the country on July 8. The model will be introduced with much fan fare in a 4-Star environment in the commercial capital of India, ‘Mumbai’. The car was seen taking a test run in Pune recently.
The news is that the model will be introduced in ‘V6S’ and ‘V8S’ variants. The V 6S will have an engine which will be energized by 3-0Litre and is likely to produce three hundred seventy five BHP and ‘V8S’ will produce four hundred and eighty nine BHP. ‘V6S’ will have LSD (‘Limited Slip Differential’), fifty fifty ‘weight’ sharing, and two pipes to let out ‘exhuast’; the other model (‘V8S’) is going to have Electronic ‘slip’ differentials and ‘quad’ pipe system.
It is rumoured that the model comes with a hefty price of above Rupees one crores, plus custom duty. At this price the vehicle is out of reach of most buyers and would most probably interest only limited number of customers with deep pockets. It is expected ‘F-Type’ is likely to compete with other two sports car luxury models in the market; Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz SLK 350. It will be interesting to what type of sales and marketing strategy would be adopted by ‘Jaguar’ to compete with these two established brands. Jaguar has a long record of making sports models from the year ‘1960’ onwards and always comes out with models which are both stunning and powerful. It is expected that ‘F-TYPE’ will also carry the same traditional characteristics.
