The British luxury marquee, Jaguar made its entry into the market of SUV segment with the F-Pace. The car was first shown as the CX-17 concept at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, later made its global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Show. And now the Jaguar started working over a premium crossover, allegedly named as J-type, the car was spotted for the first time on a flatbed truck.
The aforementioned name is not confirmed yet. As the F-Pace derives its name from its sedan sibling XF, so there is a possibility for the crossover to be named from its flagship XJ. On the first look, the car appears to be an F-Pace, but on closer observation you will find that the test mule gets longer overhang along with wheelbase. Not much is known about the new model, it could also get an extended version of the F-Pace’s intelligent aluminium architecture.
According to the British Ministry of Transport's website, the image below shows, the test mule’s number matches a vehicle with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine and an electric motor, a diesel hybrid. Though, the brand is late to decidedly jump on the SUV segment, but looking at the response for its F-Pace and the fact that a bigger SUV is already lined up, we can say it is catching up quite well.
One reason this mule could be riding on a Land Rover platform is because of its powertrain. According to the vehicle lookup on the British Ministry of Transport's website – see the final slide in our gallery above – the mule's number plates belong to a vehicle with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine and an electric motor, a diesel hybrid.
