Jaguar Land Rover India has announced a significant growth of 45 percent for the Jan-Mar 2016 quarter period. The Tata Motors owned British luxury marquee sold over 1000 units during this period, riding high due to extremely high demand for sales of its recently launched new models such as All-New Jaguar XE and Discovery Sport. The company is all set to launch the new-generation XF and F-PACE crossover in 2016 in India.
Mr. Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said: “The Jaguar and Land Rover brands are now firmly established in India. The All-New Jaguar XE, which we introduced in the Indian market in February 2016 in petrol derivatives, has received a tremendous response. Also, the demand for Model Year 2016 Jaguar XJ, Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport continues to be extremely robust. We thank our esteemed customers for choosing Jaguar Land Rover and making this strong growth possible.” The local assembly of the company's flagship saloon XJ was also one of the integral factors in driving the sales momentum, as the pricing got reduced by around 20 Lakhs.
It was recently learned that JLR India has imported a couple of units of XE diesel for homologation purposes. For those asking, the XE diesel is powered by newly-developed 2.0L, 4-cylinder Ingenium engine and it would also qualify for sales in Delhi NCR region due to the engine capacity being 1,999cc. For those asking, the Supreme Court has banned the sales of all diesel vehicles with engines over 2,000cc in Delhi. Currently, the company is not been able to sell any of its diesel vehicles in Delhi due to engine capacity exceeding 2,000cc and the introduction of XE diesel would certainly give the sales a boost. In addition, Jaguar Land Rover is all set to introduce the new-generation XF sedan and F-PACE crossover in the country this year to further strengthen its portfolio.
