Tata Motors-owned British luxury carmaker, Jaguar Land Rover have reported record breaking global sales performance in the month of April 2014 with total sales of 37,171 units worldwide, which translates to a growth of up to 30 per cent when compared to sales clocked in the same month last year. During the first four months of the year, Jaguar Land Rover has now sold a total of 1,61,947 vehicles, which is up by 12 per cent when compared to the year-ago period.
Jaguar alone, sold a total of 5,511 units, which is up by 17 per cent - thanks to the stellar performance of the stunning F-Type. Jaguar’s regional performance is as follows: the Chine region up 71 per cent, Europe by 15 per cent, the UK up 12 per cent, Asia Pacific up by 2 per cent, while other overseas markets are said to be in line with the prior year sales. Sales in the North American market however, were down by 8 per cent.
On the other hand, Land Rover registered total sales of 31,660 units, which is up by 33 per cent, thanks to new records from all three Range Rovers models. The Range Rover Sport delivered its best sales performance in April, since 2006. The hard core SUV brand too, saw increases in sales in all regions as follows: the China region up by 72 per cent, Asia Pacific up by 31 per cent, Europe by 29 per cent, North America by 28 per cent, the UK up by 27 per cent and other overseas market up by 4 per cent.
Commenting on the April performance, Mr Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover group sales operations director said, “April sales continue the positive momentum we saw in the first quarter of 2014. Alongside the F-TYPE, all three Range Rover models delivered record April sales performances reflecting the global appeal of our strongest ever vehicle line up.”
