Tata’s British subsidiary, Jaguar is globally renowned for its luxury vehicles and for equipping its cars with latest technology. Jaguar’s latest offering, E-Pace is among the few vehicles to get AI technology and adaptive suspension. Following Jaguar’s footsteps, Land Rover is also planning to introduce off-road autonomous driving tech on its vehicles. Coming to the artificial intelligence system with smart settings on the Jaguar E-Pace, it was first introduced on the I-Pace. According to Jaguar, the system recognizes approaching driver based on key fob and smartphone Bluetooth signal. It then adjusts climate, seat and infotainment system based on driver’s normal preference, which it retrieves from individual settings saved in the profile.

The settings are done based on several parameters including location, time, behaviour patterns and weather such as adjusting the temperature of steering wheel based on weather, picking media source, among several others. It will additionally come with a phone reminder as well as cuing up function for frequently used contacts.

The smart settings in the Jaguar E-Pace will be available as a part of the connect pro pack which also includes navigation pro, pro services and 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. On the other hand, the adaptive dynamics in the Jaguar E-Pace SUV monitors vehicle movements every 2 milliseconds, which is used in calculating required damping force every 10 milliseconds to respond to the surface changes and inputs given by driver.

Land Rover is also working on off-road self-driving SUVs under its Cortex project. The company will explore all-terrains like rain, ice, dirt, fog and snow under this £3.7m project. By the time, Cortex project is complete, Level 4 and 5 autonomy will be introduced on the off-road vehicles. The company has already showcased future autonomous tech in its Range Rover prototype.
