Jaguar Land Rover wins 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) have won the 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise, a prestigious award in Britain symbolising outstanding success and quality of a UK based brand. The association grants the award under three different categories- innovation, international trade and sustainable development where JLR has won it for achieving commendable growth in its overseas sales over the last three years.

In the last calendar year, JLR group sold a total of 4,25,000 units across 170 countries through its 2520 dealers network, recording a growth of 19 per cent over the previous year. Interestingly, 80 per cent of the total units were built at company's three facilities situated in Castle Bromwich, Halewood and Solihull city of UK. Major markets for the British automaker comprise mainland Europe, North America and China from where JLR has accounted approximately 60 per cent of the total sales.

Being a luxury saloon brand, the Group sold 76,668 Jaguars while Land Rover has a wide acceptability due to its models' go-anywhere character that made the company sell 348,338 vehicles. However, Jaguar is also working on an all-new C-X17 cross over along with the development of a new entry-level premium sedan, the XE to boost its presence in the entry level premium segment. Both models are supposed to enter the Indian market around the end of 2015.
