Jaguar has revealed its all-new 'XE' sedan that will be expected from mid-2015. The announcement has taken place at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show, and will be positioned beneath the ‘XF’ saloon. The new model will be the most affordable sedan with a cougar on its hood. Interestingly, the XE will be the first car in its segment with aluminium moncoque chassis, intended for class leading dynamics to outperform any other car in its segment.
Jaguar's C-X17 Concept, which company recently showcased at Auto Expo India, is also based on the same advanced chassis. The company has released a few images of the XE revealing much about what to expect from the new baby Jag. However, the styling of new model has not been completely revealed, except the front that boasts similar styling to its elder brother, the ‘XF.’ A large round cornered grille accompanied by sleek stretched headlights, sporty looking bumper and a few sharp character lines over hood show the car’s origins, while imparting an elegant, classy look.
Speaking at the Geneva show, Jaguar Land Rover boss Ralf Speth said, “We announced just a few weeks ago that our new Engine Manufacturing Centre would produce a new family of premium, lightweight, low-friction, low emission four-cylinder petrol and diesel units. The first of our ‘Ingenium’ engine range will be used in our all-new mid-sized Jaguar sports sedan. That car will be called the Jaguar XE, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year.”
Alongside the declaration of XE, the company has also announced its 'Ingenium' series of new-generation 4 cylinder engines. The company has been developing the new engines to accommodate both front wheel and rear wheel drive configuration. The XE will be completely revealed around the end of this year and will contend with the likes of BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4.
