Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake revealed, heading to Geneva Motor Show

Snapshot: Jaguar has revealed the 2015 XFR-S Sportbrake performance wagon

Jaguar has officially revealed the new mighty XFR-S Sportbrake before its debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The 2015 edition of the performance wagon is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged unit that delivers power of 542 horses along with 680 Nm of torque and makes the XFR-S Sportbrake capable of shooting from 0-100kmph in just 4.6 seconds! Top speed is limited to 300 kmph electronically. Gear changing is courtesy a 8-speed automatic transmission with quick shift technology that delivers power to the rear wheels. The same transmission also does duty on the F-Type Coupe, which has been recently launched in India.

The Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake is based on its saloon version with a re-tweaked platform. The outgoing version had reportedly some suspension issues due to a large loading capacity at the rear. To rectify this, Jaguar has changed the rear damper settings and spring rates by almost 30 per cent along with enhancing the active electronic differential and dynamic stability control system. Brakes are massive 380mm ventilated discs at front and 376mm ventilated discs at rear with advance underbody air channeling to cool down the brakes rapidly under aggressive driving conditions.

The Sports wagon rides on 20-inch Varuna forged alloy wheels along with 265/35 front and 295/30 rear Pirelli tires. The body style of the XFR-S Sportbrake may not be to everyone's taste but from the front, the sportbrake looks striking. Daytime running LED headlamps, a new roof spoiler, carbon fiber inserts on both bumpers and large air ducts make it stand out from the standard saloon version. The XFR-S Sportbrake will compete against the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate in European markets from 1st April. Availability in India is not known at this time.
