A senior executive from the company said that they are aware of the fact that the market for the luxury car in India is not very big. However, they would still like to display their models to make both buyers and general public become aware of the state of art technology used in manufacturing these vehicles.
He did not say whether they plan to assemble any other model in India apart from the ‘Land Rover Freelander 2’ and ‘Jaguar XF’. He said any further increase in the volume or assembly of new models would depend on the market conditions and sale of cars. He also did not say whether the assembling facility at Pune will be used to assemble any other model from Jaguar.
He said he was very happy to see the growth of 68 % in the sales figures for the recently closed quarter of April – June. However, he again did not share the actual sales figures. The company is happy with the rising sale of ‘XF sedan’ in the country. Normally the waiting period for placing the order and taking actual delivery of the model is between two to three months. However, he said, they are doing their best to deliver the vehicles sooner.
